Eden's FC

By all accounts, this wasn’t the best advert for ‘Fellowship’ Football.

By the way that the teams set up, it was obvious from the start that this was a match that neither side wanted to lose.  In the first half goal scoring opportunities were hard to come by.

The game seemed to open up when FSFC switched goalkeeper. George Day returned to a more customary outfield position and Damon Martin reverted to goalkeeper. But there wasn’t much between the teams

The pivotal moment occurred in controversial fashion. Eden’s defender Tom Elford was adjudged to have fouled FSFC’s overseer Jack Prentice in the penalty area, when tackling from behind. George Day made no mistake from the resulting spot kick, sending Eden’s keeper Tom Legget in the wrong direction in the process.

Eden’s went all out for an equaliser but Damon Martin produced some good saves to keep The Blues at bay.

As a football match, this was a typical battle between the league’s top two teams. Just a shame that in the process, the ‘Fellowship’ aspect of the league suffered.
